BJP claims West Bengal government suppresses RG Kar protests
BJP leader Dilip Ghosh has accused the West Bengal government of trying to suppress protests related to the RG Kar Hospital rape-murder case. He claims that the government is punishing protest leaders to quiet demands for justice. Dr. Subarna Goswami, a key figure in the protests, was transferred to a position in Darjeeling, which Ghosh sees as a move to silence her. Ghosh criticized the government for how it has handled the situation. He stated that the case is a sign of poor law and order in West Bengal. He believes that despite the government's efforts to control the protests and intimidate leaders, the movement for justice has not stopped. Instead, he argues, these actions may only make the protests stronger. Dr. Goswami had previously worked as Deputy CMOH-II in Purba Bardhaman. The transfer occurred shortly after she became a prominent voice in the protests. Concerns about the investigation were raised by the victim's father, who claims many people are involved in both the crime and evidence tampering. He has also alleged that the Chief Minister is involved in these activities. The family of the victim has filed a petition in the High Court with 54 questions aimed at securing justice for their daughter. They hope the court will address these concerns. Dr. Goswami's transfer has raised questions about whether it was an effort to remove her from the case or to silence her advocacy for justice.
