BJP demands action after Bihar students attacked in Punjab
Bihar BJP president Dilip Kumar Jaiswal has condemned an attack on students from Bihar at Guru Kashi University in Bathinda, Punjab. He warned the Punjab government that the BJP will not accept violence in schools and universities, no matter where students are from. The violent incident happened on March 19. It started as a small disagreement between a student from Bihar and one from Punjab. As Bihar students supported their peer, some Punjab students reportedly beat them. Some victims were taken to the hospital for treatment. Sources say tensions were high because of recent vandalism of Himachal Pradesh transport buses in Punjab. Jaiswal claimed that Bihar students were specifically targeted and attacked with swords. He noted the importance of protecting students from Bihar, who come to Punjab for education. He criticized the AAP government in Punjab and urged them to keep educational institutions safe from political disputes. He also called on the authorities to find and arrest those responsible for the attack. Bihar's chief secretary Amrit Lal Meena discussed the incident with his counterpart in Punjab, K A P Sinha. Meena said the situation is under control and that authorities are monitoring it closely. Bihar's deputy chief minister, Samrat Choudhary, also condemned the attack. He called for better security for Bihar students and urged Punjab's government to take strict action against those involved.
