BJP leader's brother arrested in Maharashtra bank scam
Javed Aazam, brother of BJP's former Maharashtra secretary Hyder Azam, was arrested in connection with a Rs 122 crore scam involving New India Cooperative Bank. This marks the seventh arrest in the case since it was uncovered on February 12. The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) is investigating Javed's financial activities after he was linked to the case during questioning of another suspect. Allegations suggest he received Rs 18 crore for his electronics business. The EOW has previously arrested several individuals, including the bank's general manager and former CEO. A lie-detector test on the main accused returned inconclusive results, according to police sources.
