BJP MLA receives notice after raising Ujjain land concerns
A BJP MLA in Madhya Pradesh has received a notice from the party's leadership after raising concerns in the Assembly about land acquisitions in Ujjain. Chintamani Malviya, who represents Alot, criticized the government's move to permanently acquire farmers' land for the upcoming 2028 Simhastha Kumbh. The notice was issued on March 23 by BJP chief V.D. Sharma, stating that Malviya's public criticism was harming the party's image. Malviya had warned that farmers were scared because their lands were being taken permanently instead of temporarily for the festival. He expressed his concerns about planned permanent structures, saying true spirituality cannot be built with concrete. Malviya's comments were echoed by Congress MLA Mahesh Parmar, who argued that farmers should not be forced to give up their land. The notice to Malviya was directed by BJP national president J.P. Nadda. He has seven days to respond but has described the issue as an internal party matter, maintaining that his remarks were meant to address public concerns. Malviya said he is a dedicated party worker and intends to clarify his position. Meanwhile, the opposition criticized the government's approach towards farmers, urging better compensation and updated guidelines for land acquisition. In a previous statement, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav mentioned plans for permanent infrastructure to be built for the Simhastha Kumbh, aiming to improve facilities and avoid temporary challenges.
