BJP MLA requests funds for coastal Karnataka project

BJP MLA Rajesh Naik is asking the Karnataka government for funds to support the Paschima Vahini project. This project aims to build vented dams in the coastal region. So far, no money has been allocated in the current budget for this scheme, even though the government had promised to carry out the Yettinahole project. Naik represents the Bantwal constituency. He noted that earlier governments had set aside substantial amounts for similar projects. When B. S. Yediyurappa was chief minister, ₹3,986 crore was allocated for a five-year plan. Later, Basavaraj Bommai allocated ₹300 crore. However, the current Congress government has not provided any funding. Naik is now requesting ₹500 crore for the Paschima Vahini project. In addition to the dam project, Naik requested the renewal of a school adoption scheme. This scheme is for the management of a government school run by Sri Durga Charitable Trust in Daddalakadu. The school needed significant repairs and improvements, costing around ₹4 crore, which were funded by alumni and locals. Naik says the government has not renewed the adoption scheme. Another MLA, Sharanagouda Kandakur from the Janata Dal (S), raised concerns about cancer care in Yadgir and Raichur districts. He highlighted the large number of cancer patients and called for hiring more doctors and filling vacancies in local hospitals. Raichur has about 4,000 cancer patients, while Yadgir has over 3,000. Kandakur also urged the government to create a special budget for the Kalyana Karnataka region. He emphasized the need to address problems related to drinking water, irrigation, and education. He criticized the government for providing freebies instead of jobs and called for measures that would truly empower the youth, rather than just aiming for electoral gains.
