BJP MLA walks out, accuses speaker of bias
BJP MLA RS Pathania walked out of the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly on Tuesday, claiming the speaker showed bias against him. He argued that he was denied the chance to ask a question during the question hour. Pathania was not in the House when Speaker AR Rather called his name. When he arrived shortly after, he attempted to raise his question, which was on the agenda for the day. However, Rather informed him that he had already moved on to the next question. Pathania explained his delay was due to being stuck in traffic. Feeling frustrated, Pathania accused the government of trying to avoid discussing "backdoor appointments." He stated that his questions have been pending while alleging that the government favors certain individuals. He criticized the speaker for not allowing his question, suggesting that it was a deliberate attempt to shield the government from scrutiny. Leader of the Opposition Sunil Sharma supported Pathania's claims, saying the speaker acts like a member of the ruling party. He argued that the speaker tends to favor questions from the ruling party while ignoring those from BJP legislators. Sharma concluded that the speaker has lost the neutrality necessary for his position.
