BJP MLA's procession clashes with police in Ghaziabad
In Loni, Ghaziabad, BJP MLA Nandkishor Gurjar faced clashes with police during a large procession called "Kalash Yatra." The event took place without the necessary permission and violated prohibitory orders in the area, which are in effect until April 2. On Thursday afternoon, police attempted to stop the yatra, which had drawn thousands of devotees. The procession featured participants carrying vessels of water, a common practice before religious events. It proceeded along a 4km route as part of a public recitation of the Ramcharitmanas. Deputy Commissioner Surendra Nath Tiwary stated that police took no forceful action. He claimed that the procession members pushed back when police intervened. Legal action is being planned against those responsible for the unauthorized event. Police had warned the organisers on Wednesday evening about the need for permission. They tried to reach out to MLA Gurjar and his family, but their calls went unanswered. On Thursday morning, the police requested that the procession be canceled, but it still took place. During the clash, Gurjar and his supporters allegedly shouted slogans against the police. The MLA defended his actions by saying they had applied for permission and claimed police used unnecessary force. He also mentioned that the procession was an annual event organized for 16 years and denied any clashes took place. He expressed concerns for his son's injuries and suggested that the event remained peaceful overall despite the confrontation.
