BJP MP criticizes Telangana's OBC policy for Muslims

BJP MP K Laxman has criticized the Telangana government for including 90% of Muslims in the Other Backward Classes (OBC) category. He claims this move is part of vote bank politics and is harming the rights of actual OBC communities. Laxman, who is also the National President of BJP OBC Morcha, expressed his concerns during a recent statement. He noted that since Congress took power in Telangana, they have changed the rules to benefit Muslims, jeopardizing the rights of OBC groups. He believes these changes are more about gaining votes than helping those who are genuinely in need. The debate also touches on suggestions made by Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar, who proposed 4% reservation for Muslims, even if it means changing constitutional laws. Laxman pointed out this proposal as another instance of political maneuvering. Congress leader Udit Raj has also entered the discussion, proposing reservations in the judiciary to combat issues like corruption and bias. He argues that diverse representation among judges could lead to fairer judgments and reduce nepotism within the judicial system. Raj's comments suggest that judges from various backgrounds—Dalits, OBCs, minorities, and tribal communities—could help ensure impartiality. He is critical of the current judicial system, which he believes is dominated by upper-caste judges.
