BJP panel reports on bribery allegations in Fatehpur
A committee investigating allegations of bribery involving BJP's Fatehpur district president, Mukhlal Pal, has submitted its report to party officials. The three-member committee looked into claims made by Ajit Gupta, a former district secretary, stating Pal sought payments for securing a senior party position. Pal has strongly denied these accusations. In his defense, Pal stated that he provided his side of the story to the investigation committee. He believes there are forces within the party trying to undermine him with false accusations. He also suggested that some senior party members may have gained wealth improperly and called for an investigation. The BJP formed the committee, led by state general secretary Anup Gupta, following the emergence of the allegations about two months ago. Pal received a show cause notice but has not yet been removed from his position despite changes being announced for other district leaders. Party sources indicated that the BJP is being careful in how they handle this situation to avoid backlash.
