BJP's intimidation tactics won't succeed in Tamil Nadu
Law Minister S Regupathy stated that the BJP's methods of coercion will not succeed in Tamil Nadu. He made these comments on Thursday, criticizing the BJP for using the Enforcement Directorate (ED) to intimidate political opponents. Regupathy argued that these tactics, including searches at Tasmac outlets, would only intimidate "spineless cowards," not the Dravidian model government led by Chief Minister M K Stalin. He claimed that the ED's actions were driven by frustration over Stalin’s opposition to BJP policies that affect Southern states’ representation in parliament. He also mentioned that a recent meeting of state leaders in Tamil Nadu has added to the BJP's anxiety. The Madras High Court has also ruled against the BJP regarding the Tasmac searches. The court reprimanded the ED for misleading claims about their operations and instructed them to halt any actions in the case until March 25. Regupathy expressed concern about how the BJP-led government has misused agencies like the ED and CBI to target opposition parties. He noted that while 193 cases have been filed against political leaders in the last decade, there have only been two convictions. He concluded that these cases are an example of political persecution rather than genuine legal action.
