Blu Oyster reopens on Johns Island without raw bar
Blu Oyster Sushi & Seafood has reopened on Johns Island after closing last November. The popular restaurant resumed service on March 18, operating Tuesday through Saturday. The restaurant, located in Live Oak Square off Maybank Highway, is under the same ownership but has removed its raw bar. Co-owner Rick Agius explained that the closure was due to a health issue among the team. The menu will still feature favorites like mussels, calamari, and fried seafood. There will also be new offerings from executive chef Miguel Sanchez, including hibachi entrees and rice bowls. Agius cited high operating costs as the reason for eliminating the raw bar. The restaurant had announced its closing on social media, stating it would end service on November 18, just before its third anniversary. Other eateries in Live Oak Square include Kiss Café and Tolli’s Apizza.
