Bluesky adds 1.25 million users in wake of U.S. election results
Bluesky has gained over 1.25 million new users in the past week, following the U.S. presidential election. This surge suggests a shift in social media preferences, with many users seeking alternatives to X and Meta's Threads. The majority of new users are from the U.S., Canada, and the U.K. Bluesky now claims a total of 15.2 million users, still significantly smaller than its competitors, which include X with around 318 million users and Threads with nearly 275 million. Bluesky, an independent company since 2021, does not show ads and lacks a developed business model. This is the second user surge for Bluesky in recent months, following a previous increase of 2 million users in September.
