BMTC launches five mobile service vans in Bengaluru
The Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) has launched five new Mobile Service Vans (MSVs) to improve bus maintenance and efficiency. This initiative is aimed at ensuring better service for the city's commuters. Currently, there are two existing MSVs serving areas near Outer Ring Road and Kempegowda Bus Stand. The newly acquired MSVs will help cover more areas including Shivajinagar, Yeshwantpur, Jayanagar, Banashankari, Silk Board, and Nayandahalli junction. Bengaluru faces heavy traffic, and even minor bus delays can lead to significant congestion. Hence, BMTC aims to have one MSV in each zone, major transport terminals, and bus stands. BMTC operates about 5,875 trips daily with a fleet of 6,835 buses, serving both the city and suburban regions. To enhance eco-friendly transport, they have introduced electric buses, with 1,336 currently in use. More electric buses are planned to reduce air pollution. The new MSVs have advanced features, including a BS-VI emission compliant engine, low emissions, and a comfortable cabin for the driver. They are designed with safety features such as automatic location tracking and a panic button. Overall, these measures reflect BMTC's commitment to improving public transport and safeguarding the environment.
