BMTC launching mobile service vans for bus maintenance
The Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) is set to launch mobile service vans to enhance bus maintenance in the city. Transport and Muzrai Minister Ramalinga Reddy will officially start the service at the BMTC Central Office in Shanthinagar on Monday. These mobile vans are designed to provide on-the-spot servicing for BMTC buses. This will help reduce downtime and improve operations. A BMTC official mentioned that the vans will respond quickly to breakdowns and conduct minor repairs on-site, minimizing disruptions to public transport. BMTC currently operates around 6,500 buses, with about 1,300 being non-AC electric vehicles. The corporation also plans to lease 320 AC electric buses soon. Proper maintenance of these vehicles is critical for ensuring uninterrupted service. The initiative aims to boost operational efficiency and decrease delays caused by unexpected technical issues, according to BMTC representatives.
