BMW Art Car World Tour launches in Vienna
The BMW Art Car World Tour has officially begun in Vienna. This event celebrates the 50th anniversary of the BMW Art Car Collection, bringing together art and automotive design. The tour will go to five continents, starting at the Museum of Applied Arts and the SPARK Art Fair from March 20 to 23. Five famous BMW Art Cars by artists such as Roy Lichtenstein and Andy Warhol are on display. The latest addition, the BMW M Hybrid V8 by Julie Mehretu, will head to Art Basel in Hong Kong later this month. Dr. Josef Reiter, the Managing Director of BMW Group Niederlassung Wien, emphasized the company's commitment to art and culture. He highlighted the emotional connection between cars and art, stating that both aim to inspire awe and joy. The event also showcased BMW's vision for the future with the Neue Klasse concept vehicles. These designs represent the next generation of BMW cars, focusing on advanced technology and elegance. The new electric vehicle architecture allows for innovative interior designs. The BMW Art Car tradition started in 1975 with artist Alexander Calder, who painted the BMW 3.0 CSL for the Le Mans race. This project sparked a long-lasting collaboration between art and automotive design for BMW. The BMW Group has been involved in cultural funding and support for nearly 50 years, promoting contemporary art, music, and design. The company collaborates with museums and cultural events globally and emphasizes the importance of creativity in both art and business. In Austria, BMW supports various cultural initiatives, including partnerships with local art institutions.
