BMW leads EV sales, surpassing Audi and Mercedes
BMW has sold more electric vehicles (EVs) than Audi and Mercedes-Benz combined, achieving significant growth in the EV market. In 2024, BMW's EV sales increased by nearly 12%, making up 16.7% of its total sales, which reached over 2.2 million units. In contrast, Mercedes-Benz saw a sharp decline in EV sales, down 23% from the previous year. They sold fewer than 50,000 of their EQ models. Audi also faced challenges, with sales dropping by 7.8% from 2023. Neither of these brands managed to reach 10% of their total sales with EVs. Experts suggest that part of BMW's success lies in their effective customer education. Many new EV buyers don't fully understand how electric vehicles work. BMW's "Genius" program teaches customers about charging and other important features, which improves overall satisfaction. According to a recent study, customers appreciate their EV experiences more than in previous years, with BMW's i4 model being particularly favored. The company’s focus on customer service and education is seen as a major factor in its success in the EV segment.
