Bodo accord's 82% commitments met; full completion soon
Union Home Minister Amit Shah announced that 82% of the commitments from the 2020 Bodo accord have been fulfilled, with the remaining provisions expected to be completed in two years. He noted significant development in the Bodoland Territorial Region. Shah highlighted the region's transformation from violence to development, stating that the Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) was removed in April 2022. He credited the All Bodo Students' Union for its role in achieving peace. The government has allocated Rs 1,500 crore for development in the area and Rs 287 crore for rehabilitating former militants. Shah also mentioned initiatives to promote local products and the recruitment of Bodo youths into Assam's commando battalion.
