Body parts of woman found in Mumbai region's drain
MUMBAI: The Mandvi police have recovered the torso of a woman after a four-day search. This follows the discovery of her head, found in a suitcase along the Mumbai-Ahmedabad Highway last Thursday. The torso was located in a drain after a four-hour search on Tuesday. The victim has been identified as Utpala Hippargi, 51, who lived in Rehmat Nagar, Nalasopara. Her skull was initially found in bushes near Pirkunda Dargah in Virar Phata, which led police to investigate the case. Her identity was confirmed through a wallet discovered at the scene. Police arrested her husband, Harish Hippargi, 49, on Saturday. He allegedly confessed to strangling Utpala on January 8. Afterward, he took her body to Deshmukh Farm in Virar, where he beheaded her using a crowbar. Harish said he then disposed of her torso in a drain near railway tracks and her head in the suitcase.
