Boeing 787 engine catches fire shortly after takeoff from Rome airport
A Hainan Airlines Boeing 787 caught fire shortly after takeoff from Rome's Fiumicino Airport on Sunday. The flight, carrying 249 passengers and 16 crew members to Shenzen, was forced to return due to flames in the right engine. The fire reportedly resulted from a bird strike. The aircraft safely landed after dumping fuel over the sea, and there were no disruptions to air traffic at the airport. This incident follows another recent fire involving a Boeing 737-500 in Indonesia, which required evacuation of 121 passengers. Both incidents highlight ongoing safety concerns with Boeing aircraft.
