Boeing dismantles diversity division and shifts to merit-based system
Boeing has dismantled its global diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) department, shifting to a "merit-based" performance system under new leadership. This change reflects a broader trend among corporations reevaluating their DEI policies. The DEI staff will merge with another human resources team focused on talent and employee experience. Boeing stated it remains committed to recruiting top talent while ensuring non-discriminatory hiring practices. Previously, Boeing aimed to increase Black employment by 20% by 2025, achieving a 17% rise to 7.5% in 2023. Sara Liang Bowen, who led the DEI department, has left the company.
