Boeing flight returns to Rome after engine fire shortly after takeoff
A Hainan Airlines flight from Rome to Shenzen experienced an engine fire shortly after takeoff. The Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, carrying 249 passengers and 16 crew, took off at 9:55 AM local time. The fire erupted when the plane struck a bird, causing flames to engulf one engine. The aircraft returned to Fiumicino Airport after dumping fuel over the sea. No other flights were delayed at the airport due to the incident, which is currently under investigation.
