Boeing lost American trust, needs more oversight

Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy stated that Boeing has lost the trust of the American public following a mid-air emergency in January 2024 and two fatal crashes in 2018 and 2019. He emphasized the need for strict oversight. Duffy confirmed that the Federal Aviation Administration will not lift the current production cap of 38 planes per month for the 737 MAX. Boeing is not yet close to meeting this production level. Boeing's leadership is reportedly making improvements, but Duffy noted that more changes are necessary. Boeing recently agreed to plead guilty to a criminal fraud charge and will pay over $243 million for past safety violations.
