Bomb cyclone to bring hazardous weather to British Columbia this week
A powerful bomb cyclone is set to impact British Columbia this week, bringing hazardous conditions. While the storm will stay offshore, it is expected to produce strong winds and heavy precipitation, similar to a storm in October 2021. Winds will intensify from Tuesday into Wednesday, with gusts reaching 90-100 km/h in some areas. This may lead to power outages and ferry delays. Heavy snowfall is also anticipated in alpine regions, with some areas receiving up to 100 cm. Rainfall could exceed 100 mm in parts of western Vancouver Island, while other regions may see 30-50 mm. Elevated tides from a king tide cycle could cause coastal flooding, particularly in communities like Victoria and Campbell River.
