Bomb squads respond to suspicious packages in Brisbane, Geelong
Authorities are responding to two incidents involving suspicious packages in Australia. The first incident took place at a Bunnings store in Brisbane, while the second occurred at an office in North Geelong. In North Geelong, police were called to the office on Mackey Street after two female protesters left a suspicious package in the reception area around 9:40 AM on Friday. The women were reportedly chanting and recording when they dropped off the package. Staff removed the protesters before emergency teams, including the bomb squad and HAZMAT team, arrived. A specialized robot was deployed at the scene for further investigation. At about 12:30 PM, the bomb squad also responded to the Bunnings on Sandgate Road in Virginia after a suspicious package was discovered. Queensland Police set up a 100-meter exclusion zone around the store as a precaution. Officers continue to assess the situation and investigate the contents of the package. Both incidents are ongoing, and more updates are expected.
