Bong Go praises INC for support during political tension
Senator Christopher "Bong" Go expressed gratitude to the Iglesia Ni Cristo (INC) for its strong and balanced stance during current political tensions in the Philippines. In a video message, he highlighted the INC's commitment to peace and justice, emphasizing the need for voices that promote calm and support lawful processes. Go thanked the INC members for their support of fellow Filipinos and praised their steadfast principles. He urged unity and respect for the country's legal system, stating that it remains capable and independent. Go's remarks came after an INC spokesperson called for peace and unity, pointing out the growing political divide in the country. The INC had previously held a National Rally for Peace, supporting President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.'s stance against the impeachment of Vice President Sara Duterte. The spokesperson reiterated the importance of following the law when addressing issues related to former President Rodrigo Duterte, who is currently facing trial for crimes against humanity at the International Criminal Court. Zaballa emphasized the INC's trust in the Philippine judiciary and stated that justice should prevail without compromising the country's sovereignty. Former President Duterte is currently detained in The Hague and has a pretrial hearing scheduled, with a confirmation of charges set for September.
