Boston expects light snow and cooler temperatures this week
Boston is expected to see light snow in the coming week as temperatures drop once more. The National Weather Service forecasts that a small storm system will bring rain and possibly a few snowflakes on Monday morning. The area may get its first snow of spring before 10 a.m. on Monday. However, little to no snow accumulation is expected as rain will dominate the day. The high temperature is projected to be 42 degrees, with patchy fog in the morning and wind gusts reaching 23 miles per hour. Another chance for snow is possible on Wednesday, but the forecasted precipitation is lower. Snow could fall before 8 a.m., with rain expected later in the day. Wednesday's high temperature should be around 48 degrees. Meteorologist Andy Nash described Tuesday and Wednesday as having no major weather events, with cooler temperatures and a mix of clouds and sun. Overall, temperatures should reach the upper 40s to low 50s throughout the week, with lows in the 30s. Nash noted that while this week will be slightly cooler than average for March, it's not an extreme cold situation. Snow in March is considered normal for the region, which can even see snow as late as April. As spring approaches, Boston is also entering fire weather season. A fire weather advisory was issued, but Monday's rain should help reduce risks. Nash cautioned that dead leaves and dry grass can lead to fire hazards. He advised the public to be cautious with potential ignition sources, particularly when it’s windy.
