Boulder City Councilmember Taishya Adams has been cleared of any misconduct following an investigation into her social media activities. The investigation reported that Adams did not violate the City of Boulder’s code of conduct by blocking several residents from her Instagram accounts. The probe, led by Fort Collins Deputy City Attorney Stefanie Boster, found that Adams’s Instagram accounts were not official government channels. This allowed her to limit public access. Adams had also restricted entry to a book group she formed while serving on the council by ignoring some requests to join. Boster stated that since the book group was a private initiative, Adams could choose who could participate. The investigation revealed that Adams's social media use and the book group were not tied to her official role as a councilmember. Boster confirmed that councilmembers can advocate for any topic in their official capacity. The investigation was prompted by a complaint filed by local resident Aaron Brooks, who said he was blocked from Adams’s "adamsforboulder" Instagram account. Other residents, including Rachel Amaru and Elise Mordos, also claimed issues with joining her book group. The complaint also alleged that Adams blocked several accounts of Boulder residents who identify as Jewish and a local group advocating for the release of Israeli hostages. Adams was elected to the Boulder City Council in 2023.
