Boulder hosts book signing for "The Martian Contingency."
Today in Boulder, there are several events for people to enjoy. At 6:30 p.m., Mary Robinette Kowal will host a book signing for her new work, "The Martian Contingency," at the Boulder Book Store. The cost to attend is $5. Boulder Social is holding its weekly Burger Knockout starting at 11 a.m. Two burgers will compete, and the one that sells more will continue to the next round. This event runs until April 28 and has no entry fee. At 1:30 p.m., Trident Café will feature a reading by Cecily Stone. She will share her debut poetry book, "These Chasms in the Earth," which discusses the challenges of modern motherhood. Looking ahead, tomorrow at 6 p.m., Velvet Elk Lounge will host Velvet Vinyls. This event features live vinyl music and all-night happy hour deals. On Wednesday at 7 p.m., David Nihill will perform his new show "Shelf Help" at the Dairy Arts Center. It mixes comedy with book recommendations and costs between $34 and $49. Teenagers can participate in a Taste Test Challenge at the Boulder Public Library on Thursday at 4:30 p.m. They'll taste and compare different snacks, with prizes for the winners. Later at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, the library will screen the film "The Watermelon Woman," which highlights Black lesbian identity. Free snacks will be available. Finally, at 8 p.m. on Thursday, Billy Failing will perform at The Fox Theatre. Failing, known for his banjo skills, will showcase original music blending tradition and innovation.
