BPCL launches floating solar power plant in Kochi

Bharat Petroleum Corporation (BPCL) has launched a new floating solar power plant at the Kochi Refinery. The plant has a capacity of 3.2 megawatts (MW) and is installed in a rainwater harvesting pond. The floating solar plant occupies eight acres of water within a larger 19-acre area. The total cost of the project is approximately ₹28.93 crore. Chief Secretary Sarada Muraleedharan inaugurated the plant. She also visited a new facility being built by BPCL that will convert municipal solid waste into compressed biogas (CBG) near the Brahmapuram waste dumping yard. Muraleedharan reviewed the progress of the CBG plant during her visit.
