economictimes.indiatimes.com

BPCL is in the spotlight after forming a partnership to develop the world's first hydrogen-powered Vertical Take-Off and Landing (VTOL) aviation system. The company has teamed up with BluJ Aerospace, the Agency for New and Renewable Energy Research and Technology (ANERT), and Cochin International Airport Limited (CIAL). This collaboration aims to create a hydrogen-fueled VTOL ecosystem, which aligns with India's goal of reaching net-zero emissions. BPCL plans to build hydrogen refueling stations in Kochi and Trivandrum as part of this initiative. In addition, BPCL has signed an agreement with KPIT Technologies. This deal focuses on introducing hydrogen fuel cell electric buses to improve transportation between Kochi and Trivandrum. The project supports India's National Green Hydrogen Mission and will help establish further hydrogen infrastructure in Kerala. Furthermore, BPCL has launched the 'Emerge' cohort under its Ankur Fund. This program will assist early-stage startups in energy efficiency and city gas distribution. Selected startups could receive investments of up to Rs 5 crore, highlighting BPCL's commitment to sustainability and innovation in the energy sector. Since 2016, BPCL’s Ankur initiative has funded 30 startups with around Rs 28 crores in grants.
