Director Joseph Kosinski announced that six actual F2 cars were purchased for the film, allowing Pitt and co-star Damson Idris to drive on a real F1 track. The decision to use real race cars came from Mercedes F1 team principal Toto Wolff. The filmmakers collaborated with Mercedes AMG engineers to modify the cars for filming, integrating camera equipment into the vehicles. "F1" is set to be released on June 25, 2025.
