Brendan Dolan's 14-year tournament streak ends in Germany
A darts player's impressive 14-year streak has ended. Brendan Dolan, a 51-year-old from Northern Ireland, missed the Players Championship for the first time since 2011 this week. He had attended a remarkable 319 consecutive tournaments prior to this absence. Dolan, ranked 33rd in the world, is known as "The History Maker." His long streak started after he missed a tournament in Canada back in 2011. Throughout his career, Dolan has won nine Players Championships, including one in Hildesheim last year. He also reached the quarter-finals of the PDC World Championship in both 2019 and 2024. Dolan is famous for a unique achievement at the World Grand Prix, where he became the first player to hit a nine-darter in a double-in, double-out format. He reached the final of that tournament but lost to Phil Taylor. Last year, Dolan placed 27th in the Players Championship Order of Merit, allowing him to qualify for the Finals. However, he was eliminated in the first round by Martin Schindler, while Luke Humphries won the title.
