Brian Kelly alters LSU's spring game to open practice
LSU football coach Brian Kelly has replaced the traditional spring game with an open practice on April 12. This change allows more time for player development and skill work, rather than focusing on game logistics. The open practice will include structured drills for special teams and full-team work, but it will not be televised. Kelly aims to give all players equal opportunities for practice reps, addressing concerns about player exposure during televised games. Other college programs are also modifying their spring events. Some, like Alabama and Oklahoma, are opting for non-traditional formats, while a few SEC schools will still hold spring games.
