Bristol's Grand Iftar moves indoors due to demand
Bristol's Grand Iftar will take place inside the Easton Jamia Mosque this year. The event is scheduled for 18:00 GMT. The decision to move indoors comes due to high demand and unpredictable weather. People from various faiths are welcome to join the Iftar. This meal is served at sunset during Ramadan. Abdul Malik, the mosque's chair, expressed excitement about showcasing the mosque's beauty. He believes it is a good chance for people to learn about Islam. The Grand Iftar began in 2017 on St Mark's Road and has grown in popularity. Attendees will break their fast with dates and water, followed by a meal. If the weather allows, guests may eat outside afterward. This year, attendance is limited to 500 people, and all tickets have been reserved. Organizers are considering a retractable shelter for future events, to accommodate all weather conditions.
