British tourist alleges taxi driver rape in Paris
A young British woman has accused a taxi driver of rape in Paris. The incident took place in the Bois de Boulogne area, a large park on the city's west side. The victim, whose identity is protected by law, reported that she scratched the driver's neck during the attack, which may help the police find him. The woman, living near Edinburgh, was in Paris with friends. After a night out at a cocktail bar, she decided to return to her Airbnb alone between 2 a.m. and 3 a.m. She felt unwell but could not remember the details of the taxi ride. She described the driver as a white man in his forties with a stubbled chin. Instead of taking her home, the taxi driver drove her to a part of the park known for sex workers. There, he allegedly assaulted and raped her. After the attack, she fought back, scratched his neck, and managed to escape. She ran for about ten minutes before falling and injuring her knee. A local resident found her and called the police. When officers arrived, they found her distressed and in need of medical attention. She had torn clothing and was frightened. Emergency workers treated her injuries, and she was later taken to a hospital for further care. Paris prosecutors have opened a rape investigation, and police are actively searching for the suspect. They are reviewing CCTV footage and speaking with potential witnesses.
