Britt Allcroft, producer of Thomas the Tank Engine, dies at 81

Britt Allcroft, the British producer who adapted "Thomas & Friends" from "The Railway Series" books, passed away on December 25, 2024, at the age of 81. Her daughter confirmed the news. Allcroft began her career in the 1970s and secured the rights to the "Railway Series" after being inspired by a documentary in 1979. She produced the first episodes of "Thomas & Friends" in 1984, which became a global success. In addition to producing, Allcroft wrote and directed the 2000 film "Thomas and the Magic Railroad." She is survived by her daughter, son, and grandchildren.
