Brooklyn family demands justice for e-bike fatality

She shared that her daughter was also hit by a cyclist in the past. The e-bike rider stayed at the scene and cooperated with police, but Cruz's cousin, Angel Salas, insisted the cyclist should face charges. Cruz was hit as he returned home from work. He suffered a severe head injury and was taken to Bellevue Hospital, where he later died. Cruz had just finished a shift at work and had parked his car when the accident happened. He had come to the U.S. from Mexico to improve his life and support his mother back home. His aunt raised him after he arrived in the country. Cruz was a devoted father to five children. His family described him as a hardworking and humble person who focused on providing for his kids. His tragic death highlights ongoing concerns about e-bike safety in the city.
