Browns sign return specialist DeAndre Carter for 2025

The Cleveland Browns have signed return specialist DeAndre Carter to a one-year deal worth $800,000. This marks the eighth year of Carter’s professional career. Carter, 31, played for the Chicago Bears last season. He has played for six teams over the past six years. In 2024, he returned 15 punts for 153 yards, averaging 10.2 yards per return. He also returned 10 kickoffs for a total of 320 yards, with an impressive average of 32.0 yards per kickoff. Carter started his career as an undrafted rookie with the Baltimore Ravens in 2015. He later played for several teams, including a long stint with the Houston Texans from 2018 to 2020. His best season as a receiver was in 2022 with the Los Angeles Chargers, where he caught 46 passes for 538 yards and three touchdowns. The Browns ranked 11th in the NFL for punt return average and sixth for kickoff return average last season. Along with Carter, the team has also signed offensive tackle Cornelius Lucas and linebacker Devin Bush, among others. They also traded for quarterback Kenny Pickett from the Eagles.
