Bruno Fernandes criticized for on-field behavior at Manchester
Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes has faced mixed reactions this season from fans and critics. The player has been under scrutiny as the team struggles in the Premier League. Currently, United's hopes of winning a trophy depend on success in the UEFA Europa League. In the 2024/25 season, Fernandes has shown his skills, scoring 16 goals in all competitions. Recently, he scored six goals in five matches, including a hat trick in a 3-0 win over Real Sociedad. However, some fans are unhappy with his behavior on the field, particularly when he argues with referees and sometimes exaggerates injuries. Former Manchester United captain Roy Keane has criticized Fernandes' leadership during tough times. Still, both Fernandes and manager Ruben Amorim have dismissed Keane's comments as simply his opinion. Another ex-captain, Bryan Robson, has spoken out in support of Fernandes. He praised Fernandes for his recent performances but also suggested he should change a few habits, like rolling on the ground after tackles. Robson emphasized that being captain brings responsibility, but the team’s inconsistency is the manager's issue, not solely Fernandes' fault. Fernandes is expected to return to Manchester soon after helping Portugal win against Denmark in the UEFA Nations League. Manchester United will play Nottingham Forest on April 1, as they look to improve their form.
