Brunswick High School hosts Festival of Bands event
Brunswick, Ohio, marked a lively celebration at the Festival of Bands on March 19. The event featured music from students of various grades, including sixth and eighth graders, a high school jazz band, and a woodwind ensemble. The highlight was a finale performance by all the bands, showcasing their collaboration despite age differences. The festival was hosted in the school's east gym. The Brunswick community remembered Bill Parschen, a beloved local educator, with a fundraiser at Donut Land. The event supports the Parschen Gazebo, now located at the Brunswick Area Historical Society. Donor contributions through March 29 will earn free donuts and gift cards, while a portion of sales on that date will also go to the preservation efforts. In local news, Lieutenant Guy Storch retired from the Brunswick Division of Fire after 28 years of service. His contributions to community safety were widely appreciated. Additionally, Hope Church students are organizing a spaghetti dinner and auction on April 11 to raise funds for a conference trip. Medina County Board of Developmental Disabilities employees participated in a community service event, helping local nonprofits by sorting donations and maintaining facilities. This initiative showed their commitment to giving back to the community. A significant event, the Community Pinwheel Walk, is scheduled for April 13 to raise awareness for child abuse prevention. Participants will plant pinwheels symbolizing cases of child abuse, fostering hope and healing. The Medina County Historical Society is hosting a special exhibit called “Yesterday’s Toys” at the John Smart House Museum starting in April. The museum will be open monthly for tours, featuring various historical displays. Finally, a public history program will take place on March 27 at Goodyear’s Big Barn, focusing on the county's long settlements. The event will be free and open to all.
