Budget 2025-26 emphasizes fiscal discipline and revenue generation
The State Government is working hard to manage its finances and meet budget goals, according to finance officials. They described the Budget for 2025-26 as conservative, with a total of ₹3.04 lakh crore. This is only a 5% increase from last year's budget of ₹2.91 lakh crore. Officials noted that past years have been financially challenging for the State. They are optimistic that things will improve, but they insisted that the budget numbers are accurate and not inflated. They aim to achieve the expected revenues from various sources like Grants in Aid and Contributions. This year, the government is focusing on increasing revenue in four main areas: Registration and Stamps, land, Excise, and Cess. Changes have already been made in Excise, and more are planned for the other areas. The State is implementing better methods to collect taxes effectively, hoping to close the gap between projected and actual revenues. For instance, revenue from sand sales has significantly increased. The daily income rose from ₹1 crore to ₹2.5 crore recently. The government emphasizes the importance of fair tax policies and does not want to place an excessive burden on its citizens. Officials are also working to maximize revenue through projects that involve support from the central government, ensuring that funds are released quickly. These efforts show the State's commitment to manage its finances responsibly while trying to boost revenue.
