Burglary increases on Staten Island; police seek suspects
Police are looking into a burglary at a pharmacy in Staten Island. The incident occurred early Saturday morning at Care Center Pharmacy on Forest Avenue. Two suspects broke the glass door after cutting through a security gate. They took an unknown amount of pharmaceutical products before escaping in a blue SUV. Authorities reported that the two male suspects were wearing face masks and black-hooded sweatshirts. They drove north on Broadway after the burglary. No arrests have been made yet and the investigation is ongoing. This burglary is part of a larger trend. Burglaries on Staten Island have increased by 71% this year, with 91 incidents recorded by March 16. In comparison, there were only 53 reported last year at the same time. The NYPD is also seeking help from the public regarding a series of burglaries at restaurants and businesses across Staten Island, Manhattan, and Brooklyn. Over 13 incidents were noted from January to March 2025, involving stolen cash, electronics, and various products. One restaurant, Oriental Plaza, had three break-ins, with thieves taking more than $11,000 overall. Another restaurant, Max’s Es-Ca, was targeted as part of this ongoing pattern. The police continue to ask for tips to aid in their investigation.
