Bus-sized asteroid to become temporary mini moon for Earth starting Sunday
A bus-sized asteroid, named 2024 PT5, will temporarily orbit Earth starting Sunday. This "mini moon" is about 33 feet (10 meters) wide and will be captured by Earth's gravity for roughly two months. The asteroid was discovered in August by astronomers in Spain. It is not visible to the naked eye but can be seen with large telescopes. This mini moon will orbit Earth for about 57 days before leaving on November 25. It is expected to return in 2055.
