A bus-sized asteroid, named 2024 PT5, will temporarily orbit Earth starting Sunday. This "mini moon" is about 33 feet (10 meters) wide and will be captured by Earth's gravity for roughly two months. The asteroid was discovered in August by astronomers in Spain. It is difficult to detect such small objects, but advancements in survey technology have improved detection rates. 2024 PT5 will orbit Earth for nearly 57 days before leaving on November 25. It is not visible to the naked eye but can be observed with large telescopes.
