Bus staff attacked women passengers over fare dispute
In Sargodha, a serious incident occurred involving women passengers and bus staff. The bus staff were accused of overcharging, leading to a dispute. During this confrontation, the staff forcibly removed the women from the bus and threatened them. District Police Officer Muhammad Sohaib Ashraf took notice of the situation and asked for a report. This prompted the Jhawarian police to take action, resulting in the arrest of conductor Shamsher. Efforts are ongoing to find other involved suspects. Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Waseem has also directed the transport regulatory authority to take swift action. The bus involved has been impounded at the police station, and further actions are being planned against the transport owners. Meanwhile, as the holiday of Eidul Fitr approaches, thefts and robberies have increased in the city. One alarming case involved robbers drugging a passenger at the railway station and stealing from him. In another incident, a jeweler named Zaheer Ahmed lost gold valued at over Rs2.5 million to robbers near Trust Plaza. In a separate event, a house in Satellite Town was damaged by a fire caused by a discarded cigarette. The fire spread quickly due to a pile of husk next to the building but was contained by Rescue 1122, preventing further damage. This incident has raised concerns about fire safety in residential neighborhoods.
