Buses urged to stop at Srivaikuntam bus stand

Passengers and local traders are calling for action to ensure that buses stop at the Srivaikuntam bus stand. They submitted a petition to the Collectorate on Monday. The Srivaikuntam Regional Passenger’s Welfare Association, led by M. Duraisamy, expressed concerns about several buses still skipping the bus stand. They noted that, despite previous orders from the Collector, not all buses were complying. Passengers who raised complaints were often treated poorly by drivers and conductors, according to the petition. Mr. Duraisamy mentioned that while many buses have been stopping at the bus stand after recent instructions, some continue to ignore them. This issue is especially hard for school and college students trying to catch their buses. He also highlighted that employees from private shops and hospitals in Tirunelveli are affected. They often have to wait for a long time at the Puthukudi bus stop instead of the more convenient Srivaikuntam bus stand. The petitioners are urging the Collector to take swift action to ensure that all buses make necessary stops at the Srivaikuntam bus stand for both boarding and deboarding.
