BYD unveils Sealion 05 EV, rivaling Creta EV in India
BYD has announced its latest all-electric SUV, the Sealion 05 EV. This model is set to launch in China on March 25, 2025. It is designed to compete with the Creta EV and the upcoming Maruti Suzuki eVitara in India. The Sealion 05 EV is different from its hybrid version available in some markets. While it shares the same name, its design and size are distinct. This SUV measures 4,520 mm long, 1,860 mm wide, and 1,630 mm high, making it smaller than the hybrid model. However, it has a longer wheelbase of 2,720 mm, giving it a spacious feel. Its design features a floating roof effect and stylish LED lights. In terms of performance, the Sealion 05 EV has a rear-wheel-drive layout and offers two battery options. The first is a 50kWh battery providing 188 horsepower and a range of 430 km. The second is a more powerful 60.9kWh battery with 214 horsepower and a range of 520 km. Both versions have a top speed limited to 180 km/h. BYD has not yet confirmed if the Sealion 05 EV will launch in India. However, if it does, it could become a strong competitor in the electric vehicle market.
