CAA Manitoba's campaign highlights dangerous provincial roads
CAA Manitoba has started its 14th year of the "Worst Roads" campaign. This campaign asks drivers to name the most dangerous roads in Manitoba. The aim is to improve road conditions across the province. Many drivers in Manitoba are facing problems. A recent survey shows that more than half of respondents have had vehicle damage due to poor road conditions. The number of drivers who pay for repairs themselves has increased by 10% from last year. Additionally, eight percent of drivers chose not to get repairs done at all. CAA's Ewald Friesen emphasizes the urgency for repairs. He noted that 96% of Manitobans are concerned about road conditions. The campaign allows residents to voice their concerns and help decision-makers understand which roads need the most attention. Potholes can lead to costly repairs, ranging from $300 to over $6,000. The average repair cost for pothole damage is about $882. Almost half of the surveyed drivers reported spending between $500 and $1,999 on these repairs. The goal of the campaign is to draw attention to roads that need immediate work. Friesen stated that almost 60% of past participants believe nominating a road can lead to repairs. CAA Manitoba urges everyone to participate and nominate roads that need fixing to help make driving safer for all.
