Cadillac replacing CT4 and CT5 sedans with EVs

Cadillac may replace its last two gas-powered sedans, the CT4 and CT5, with electric versions. General Motors (GM) has not announced any plans for new internal combustion engine models of these sedans. Instead, Cadillac is focusing on electric vehicles (EVs) as part of its future strategy. Cadillac had a strong sales year in 2024, mainly due to the success of its electric SUV, the Lyriq. Sales of the Lyriq increased dramatically compared to previous years. However, the CT4 and CT5 saw a significant drop in sales. The CT4's sales fell by 32.1%, while the CT5's dropped by 20.1%. Cadillac is expected to introduce new electric sedans that may be similar in size to the CT5 and the now-discontinued CT6. These new models will use an updated platform called "BEV Prime." The design of these EVs might resemble the Cadillac Escala Concept, moving away from the traditional sedan look. The brand aims for electric vehicles to account for 30% to 35% of its sales in the U.S. by 2025, almost doubling its 18% share from last year. Cadillac is working to become the leading luxury EV brand in the country. As it transitions to electric options, it remains to be seen if consumers will choose an electric Cadillac over competitors like Tesla or Lucid.
