Calcutta High Court to hear RG Kar case plea

The Calcutta High Court will hear a petition from the parents of a doctor who was raped and murdered at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital. The hearing is scheduled for Monday. The parents are asking for a further investigation into the crime. Their lawyer told Justice Tirthankar Ghosh that the Supreme Court suggested they take their plea to this court. Justice Ghosh agreed to hear the case on Monday as an urgent matter. The parents want the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) involved. They believe there are more people involved in the crime and want them to be held accountable. The court had asked the parents to seek clarification from the Supreme Court since there was already an ongoing matter regarding the case. Sanjay Roy, a former civic volunteer, has been sentenced to life in prison for his role in the rape and murder. The CBI is still investigating the case to explore any other possible involvement.
